People of all ages and medical histories should consider themselves potential donors. More than 80,000 Americans are waiting for a transplant -- that's a record high according to United Network for Organ Sharing (www.unos.org), the nation's organ procurement agency. Unfortunately, 17 of these people die every day waiting for an organ.

Despite continuing advances in medicine and technology, the demand for organs drastically exceeds the number of organ donors. You can make the difference in someone's life by helping to increase organ donation.

The graph below shows how the number of people needing organs has increased versus the number of available organs. These numbers have increased at the same rate since 2001.
